There seem to be so few things in the world that we can count on these days. The sun will rise, prices will go up… and The Bold and the Beautiful‘s Brooke will never, ever quit Ridge. Oh, sure, they’ll split for a bit as Ridge runs back to Taylor, or Brooke gives another Forrester a go, but in the end, they always, always get back together. You’d think anyone getting involved with either of them would realize that inevitability, but we guess hope springs eternal.

As for why nothing is ever a “Bridge” too far for Brooke when it comes to her beau, Katherine Kelly Lang explained her character’s feelings pretty definitively in an interview with Finland’s channel YLE TV1 for the show’s 39th anniversary. (Which, we all know, is today!)

Ridge came into Brooke’s life nearly 40 years ago, Lang says. And, “from the moment she went to the Forrester house to cater with her mom, and she turns around and, ‘Aah!’ I still remember that scene. It’s just love at first sight.”

To put it simply and unequivocally, Lang makes it clear that “that was it for Brooke. That’s all she can think about. That’s always been in her head ever since, and still is: Ridge.”

It was the beginning of decades worth of story and it’s been driving Brooke ever since. And it’s why, in the end, she just can’t quit Ridge. He’s never left her head in all the years they’ve known each other. And at this point, we can pretty much guarantee he never will.
