Sheila awakens Deacon, still on the sofa, with coffee. She’s eager to hear about his evening… the one he spent with a very special somebody.
Deacon tries to turn the tables by asking about Sheila’s night. Watching him closely, she says, “I went to see Taylor.” Deacon gives an Oscar-worthy performance of “innocent man” as Sheila explains that she planned to just leave the flowers, but she heard noises. “I thought she was in danger. You’ll never guess what I saw when I walked in?”
Sheila tells Deacon it wasn’t an attacker… but it was quite shocking. Taylor was in bed, naked, enjoying a little “private time.” Sheila feels bad for busting in and interrupting, though it’s really kind of funny. Sheila, hilariously, wonders why Taylor was so afraid of her? Deacon points out it had the hallmarks of the old Sheila. His wife can see he’s worried about Taylor… he really does care for her.
Sheila next wants to know about Deacon’s night with Hope. He says it was great, but he cut it short and came home early. She tells him she loves him and heads down to the restaurant, pausing at the door to look all suspicious.
Confession Time
At the cliff house, Taylor flashes to Sheila standing over her bed with a knife. Steffy comes in and startles her. Deciding she can’t keep secrets from her daughter, Tay announces that she did something last night… something she’s not going to like.
Steffy learns she had a man over and says that’s fine… as long as it wasn’t Deacon. Taylor’s expression tells her it was indeed. Steffy gawps, “Oh my God. No. No!” Launching into a full panic over Sheila and being in danger, Steffy informs her mother that this is crazy. She does not love him! Taylor tells her daughter it gets worse… much worse.
Taylor explains that she and Deacon were interrupted before anything happened… by Sheila. Steffy begins to panic anew. “Why was Sheila here?!’ Taylor says she came by with flowers and describes how it all played out. “I thought she was going to stab me to death.” Steffy hollers, “I knew this was going to happen! You brought danger into my home.” Taylor’s pretty sure she doesn’t know about them, but she needs to make sure Deacon’s OK.
Not Chill
At Brooke’s place, Hope reaches out to Deacon and leaves a message. Deke comes in and she tells him she’s worried about their dad and Taylor. They go over Deacon sounding scared when he called. Deke recaps that she thinks Sheila found out about him and Taylor… and they’re in danger.
Hope tries talking Deke into going over to check on Deacon. He doubts his overwrought sister could play it cool. Hope declares that if he’s going through all of this to be with Taylor, he’s truly in love.
The Final Scenes
Standing over the pizza box from Il Giardino, Steffy informs her mother that this is a disaster. Taylor wonders if Deacon will confess so they can be together. Steffy, horrified, reminds her that Sheila will kill her. She declares that they’re going to find out if Sheila bought the story, and then her mother will swear she’ll never have contact with Deacon ever again. Sure, Jan.
At Il Giardino, Sheila pauses at the bar to think. Deacon watches her from the window blinds before calling Taylor. He reports that she’s not onto them. Taylor sighs with relief. Deacon won’t stop seeing her; he loves her. They’ll have to be smarter. Taylor admits she’s scared. Deacon reassures her that they’re safe. “She doesn’t know.”
At the bar, Sheila reaches under the bar for a pizza box, which triggers her memory of seeing the same box at Taylor’s place… and a shock of realization.
