Sophia Ditches Kristen’s Plan For Something Far More Explosive — Plus, Chanel Makes a Shocking Decision!

Johnny wakes up tied to a chair and learns that Sophia has big plans for him. Sure, she could have just used the gun Kristen provided to shoot him. But instead, she’s set in motion an elaborate plan involving a candle, nail polish remover, gas and, ultimately, a big explosion. (Sounds like someone has watched one too many Bond movies. Those villains always make things way more complicated than necessary!) She blames him for pretty much everything that’s gone wrong in her life since the adoption disaster.

Can This Marriage Be Saved?

Several folks are at the hospital. After talking to her mom about Joy’s arrival, Stephanie has a session with Marlena. Not only does Steph blame herself for having “led Jeremy on,” but for past failed relationships with similarly abusive guys. Marlena makes it clear that Stephanie is not to blame for the action of others. The young woman acknowledges that she’s not sure her marriage to Alex will survive his having a child with Joy. She knows Alex wants a baby, but Stephanie, looking at the world around them, isn’t ready for that. “How can I have a child when I feel so unmoored?” she asks. What if Alex decides he’d rather be with a woman who gave him a child than one who doesn’t want to do so?

Brady Wants Sophia Arrested

Brady stops by Marlena’s office to give her a bit of good news: She can now go and visit Rachel whenever she wants. Conveniently enough, he gets word from a lab that Sophia’s fingerprints were all over the bottle containing Holly’s tainted happy pills. He walks down the corridor to Shawn’s hospital room, where Jada says the report he received on the pill bottle isn’t enough to actually arrest Sophia, but they can certainly bring her in for questioning. After Jada exits, Brady and Shawn discuss the future of Black Patch, acknowledging that Bo and John were both great role models who are tough to live up to.  Later, Brady suggests he join Jada when she goes to talk to Sophia.

Are Johnny and Chanel Dead?!?

In yet another room of the hospital, Chanel is awaiting the results of her mammogram. Sarah enters to say that the radiologist wants to take a closer look at the left breast, but that this isn’t necessarily cause for alarm. An increasingly nervous Chanel tries repeatedly to call Johnny, but obviously, he’s both literally and metaphorically tied up. When Sarah re-enters the room, Chanel is gone… having headed to the apartment, where she finds Johnny tied up, screaming for her to get out!

In her room, Sophia weeps as she writes a farewell letter. “I’m tired of begging for forgiveness for my mistakes. All I wanted was to move forward, to be loved and understood. But it’s clear that I was never going to get that. Holly Jonas said that I was dead to her. So, as her former BFF, I’m going to make her dream a reality.” Across town, as Chanel races toward the deathtrap set by Sophia, the fire spreads and it looks as if the apartment has exploded!
