Like Father Like Son? What ‘Choices’ Will General Hospital’s Danny Make to Get Revenge for Jason?

Right now, Danny’s in about the worst place a teenager can be in on General Hospital. His mom’s dead and his dad’s been thrown into a prison on the other side of the world somewhere and doesn’t seem likely to ever get out. He’s lost, he’s angry and, more than anything, he’s feeling helpless. Those are a dangerous combination in the best of circumstances.
How dangerous? Well, Asher Antonyzyn spoke with his TV dad, Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) for their That’s Awesome With Steve and Bradford podcast, and he has us worried!
As he pointed out, “Danny still doesn’t know that it was Rocco who shot Cullum. He’s still thinking, ‘Why would my dad do this?’” He’s struggling, really struggling and Rocco, who knows what really happens, says nothing. “I think he’s going to be pretty upset that his dad is being wrongfully accused,” Antonyzyn acknowledged. Like, really upset.
“I’m super glad Danny and Rocco are finally, eventually, gonna go at it,” he continued. “This entire time, they’ve been like brothers and so close to each other. I’m excited that they get a little conflict.”
The problem is, that conflict may come a bit too late and just make things worse instead of better — especially if Danny does something rash and dangerous! Anderson brought up Danny overhearing Rick and Sonny laying the blame for Jason at Sidwell’s feet. And the teen is angry, lost and desperate enough that he could do something about it.
“Danny went to Sonny and Rick not knowing where to start,” the young actor explains. “He was just so angry. He just wanted ammunition to do something.” Now that he’s heard Sidwell’s name, it “gives him a target to try and do something to get his dad back, just so he feels like he’s doing something.”
Are we talking about a literal target here? How far would Danny go? “I think him hearing ‘Sidwell’ could lead to him making some choices with that name,” Antonyzyn teased.
We all know that teens don’t always make the best choices — heck they aren’t even completely capable of understanding consequences yet as their brains are still developing! And if Danny lets his rage and his helplessness take over and gets it into his head that Sidwell is responsible and has to pay for his dad vanishing, perhaps forever, things could get ugly.
Rocco may not be the only teen to shoot a villain in his back. The difference is, Danny may do it intentionally. And if that’s the case, he’s got a much better shot at making sure it’s lethal.
And while we don’t think many in Port Charles would mourn Sidwell, eventually, Danny would find out that sending Jason off to the WSB’s gulag was one crime the baddy didn’t commit. And He’ll have to live with murdering a man in cold blood for the rest of his life.
