Patty Gives Matt Advice — and Sharon Doles Out a Dire Warning to Phyllis
Monday, May 18, 2026: Today on The Young and the Restless, Nick strikes a deal with Phyllis, Adam takes his suspicions to Victor, and warnings abound.

At Chancellor Park cafe, Patty meets Matt and senses he’s in trouble. He admits he’s worried that anyone he runs into could start whaling on him. When he mentions the Newmans, she confesses she knows them. They are in the same boat; a powerful family hates her guts, too. Matt asks why, and she wonders if Phyllis put him up to asking.
Matt admits Phyllis told him stories about her, and Patty concedes tha they were likely true; she’s done terrible things. But she’s changed and everyone refuses to see it, despite receiving treatment. She’ll stick around to prove it. Matt feels they share a deep kinship.
Matt knows people hate him, but doesn’t know if he can change that. He worries he may have actually done things that are so terrible that he can never be forgiven. He’s desperate enough for answers that he’s willing to face the Newmans. Patty advises him not to do that and adds that he shouldn’t trust Phyllis, given that she married into the Newman clan. She must know his history and has been keeping it from him.
Nick and Phyllis Strike a Deal
Phyllis and Nick negotiate at the GCAC. She assumes he’s planning to do more than give Matt a talking to. His father may be able to get the charges against her dropped, but can he promise the same? She wants assurances that she can keep her company and go free. Nick tells her it’s “done.” This is hardly satisfying to her. Nick wants proof she can get him Matt, and she wants proof the charges are dropped. He pulls out his phone and calls Cricket to set a meeting. Phyllis reminds him that’s only the first part of their deal. Nick orders her to have Matt ready and warns her not to screw him over.
Nick waits at the bar for Christine. When she arrives, she’s startled that he requests the charges against Phyllis be dropped. He’s not explaining and flips the topic to Matt, urging the DA to help him get that man off the streets. She’d be happy to do that, but asks what that has to do with Phyllis.
Sharon Confronts Phyllis
Phyllis runs into Crimson Lights to look for Matt. When she spots Sharon, she tries to dart out but is cornered. Sharon confronts her for having the man terrorizing her family stashed away. She insists Matt is evil and Phyllis could be the next person to suffer from his being free. Phyllis insists he’s just an amnesiac and she’s using him. Victor is backing her against the wall, and she’s determined to keep the empire she’s built. Caving to Victor now would be refusing to get justice for all the people he’s hurt over the years.
Adam’s Suspicions
At Society, Adam tries to calm Chelsea, who’s concerned that Connor’s feeling the stress of added security. Adam’s just worried his brother will strike a deal with Phyllis that will make things worse for everyone. Chelsea thinks dealing with Matt should be the priority, but he insists Phyllis has made it so that getting Matt and getting the company back are bound together. They hash over how he’s acting like a Newman. Chelsea’s sure that Nick is determined to track Matt down. Adam observes that his brother clearly has not been detoxing and may be using this situation as a way to avoid treatment.
The Final Scenes
Sharon corners Phyllis on the patio and tells her she knows all about her “wounds.” Doesn’t she miss her children and friends? Phyllis claims everyone has turned their backs on her. Sharon warns her that she will be the next person Matt hurts.
At the cafe, Matt refuses to believe Patty’s claim that Phyllis is using him. Is he a sucker? Patty assures him that she will have his back and take care of this.
At the ranch, Adam worries to Victor that between his brother’s rage and the drugs, Phyllis will get the better of him. Determined to stop that, Victor decides to speak to her himself.
At the Club, Christine warns Nick that she won’t let Phyllis get away with what she’s done to his family. He tells her he’s not concerned about that. Cricket quickly figures out that Phyllis must have Matt Clark and is using him to extort Nick into having the charges dropped.
