Kristen hates EJ so much she’s trying to kill him. Tony’s definitely team “anyone but Johnny” at their company’s head, which puts him at odds with EJ. Theo’s thrilled to have his mom back, but we have a feeling this won’t end well and he’ll be heartbroken and furious with his uncle. And now Chad, who seemed closer than anyone with EJ, is on a collision course with his brother.

And EJ may soon lose one of the last people who had his back.

When Chad left for Phoenix with the kids, the two shared a genuine, touching farewell. But then Chad came back, immediately suspicious and angry, thinking EJ was bringing Abigail back to life behind his back. He knows that it’s Lexie now, of course, but it’s clear Chad’s still distrustful of EJ and he’s already warned him that there will be consequences.

And now? Well, if that awkward run-in at the end of Wednesday’s episode is any indication, Chad and EJ are about to hit a whole new level of animosity!

When Soaps spoke with Dan Feuerriegel and asked how EJ’s going to handle Chad and Belle’s foray into romance, he couldn’t help but smile.

EJ “would pretend it doesn’t bother him,” the actor admitted, “but I’m sure it bothers him. But in the same token, he’s developing something with Cat, and Cat and Chad did something. So it’s kind of like ‘the roommate swap’ as they call it.”

The problem with this roommate swap is that Chad already told his brother to stay away from Cat — even if he’s not allowed to be with her! And EJ, well, he’s always petty, and despite how many times he blew it with Belle, it sure feels like there are still feelings there.

Look, Chad would never go so far as to join Kristen on her murderous revenge tour, but if these brothers blow up, it could mean the end of him and EJ even playing nice. And if that happens, Chad could turn the power of The Spectator against his brother in an effort to try to bring all his plans toppling down.

Add in Belle’s role as the DA, Cat’s job in the ISA and, well, as Feuerriegel put it, this “being a soap opera, it’s not gonna end well.” That may be the understatement of the year!
