Has Laura Had Enough? 3 Reasons Sonny Could Lose One of His Biggest Allies on General Hospital

3 Reasons Why Laura Should Be Anti-Sonny on General Hospital

Laura used to be against organized crime.

Laura and Sonny General Hospital

General Hospital fans understand why Laura is anti-Sidwell. He’s threatening Kevin and Ace, and that’s bad. But we’re a bit more confused about why Laura is defending Sonny. Who is just as bad as Sidwell? In fact, Sonny wants us to believe that he is actually so, so much worse than Sidwell. He’s the baddest bad who ever badded. So if we’re supposed to believe that, then we also have trouble believing Laura would be his champion. Here are three reasons why Laura should be against the mobster, not for him.

First Time Around

If you were alive in the 1980s, you’d have heard about Luke (Anthony Geary) and Laura (Genie Francis). And what did you hear about Luke and Laura? You heard that they were on the run.

And why were they on the run? Because they needed to find information to bring down Frank Smith (George Gaynes — yes, Henry from Punky Brewster), the Port Charles mob boss who wasn’t a saint. The mob wanted to kill Luke. Then they wanted to kill Laura. The mob was bad then.

Second Time Around

Luke and Laura’s return to GH in 1993 wasn’t quite the pop culture sensation it had been in the summer of 1980 and 1981, but it was still a big deal. Not only did fans meet their son, Lucky (Jonathan Jackson), but they also found out that Luke and Laura had been in hiding for close to a decade… because of Frank Smith (Mitchell Ryan).

Yes, he was still bad. Because he was a mobster. And mobsters are bad.

Kill Switch

Lucky “died” for the first time in 1999. And Laura blamed Sonny (Maurice Benard). She called him a murderer to his face. Because Lucky was hanging around Jason (Steve Burton) and Sonny.

Sure, Lucky turned out to be alive and kidnapped by Faison (Andres Hove). But are we supposed to believe that after spending half her life working to bring down organized crime, and with her latent feelings about Lucky, Laura is now Sonny’s biggest fan? Hypocrite, much?
