General Hospital’s Kate Mansi Moves to The Young and the Restless as Summer Newman Recast?

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that many fans are wondering if the show’s finally going to deliver a Summer Newman (last played by Allison Lanier) recast.

Summer’s name has consistently been coming up in recent months, but she still hasn’t resurfaced in Genoa City yet.

However, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) recently texted Summer in hopes that she’d come home for a visit.

Since Phyllis is desperate to make amends with her daughter, that’d be easier to do if Summer would return in person.

Now that Kate Mansi has wrapped her run as Kristina Corinthos-Davis on General Hospital, could she land at another daytime drama?

Is Kate Mansi going to playing Summer Newman on The Young and the Restless now that she’s exited General Hospital?

Mansi is no stranger to soap hopping since she previously played Abigail Deveraux DiMera on Days of Our Lives as well.
In Mansi’s exit interview she revealed that needing schedule flexibility was a big reason why she didn’t renew her GH contract.

If Y&R could offer that flexibility, maybe Mansi could trade Port Charles for Genoa City.

Mansi’s husband is a producer named Matt McInnis who’s working predominantly in Europe, so it’s easy to see why staying flexible was key.

That said, Y&R has been willing to work with other soap stars on their schedules, so perhaps they could work with Mansi on hers, too.

If the show were to recast Summer Newman with Kate Mansi in the part, she wouldn’t necessarily have to be around full-time.

Summer has a wonderful career, boyfriend and life in Milan, so she may not be looking to make an official GC move right now anyway.

Mansi could perhaps just pop in as Summer whenever the story calls for it.

Summer could still spend a good chunk of her time in Italy, which would work out well for Mansi since she confessed she’ll be traveling so often.

Mansi confirmed she’s booked a short-term project in the fall that fits with the tricky schedule she’s focused on.

If Y&R offers a deal like that, then Mansi just might consider making it her new soap home from time to time.

That said, Kate Mansi also admitted “anything is possible” when it comes to the option of heading back to General Hospital down the road.
