Young & Restless Forces Fans to Choose Sides: Vote Here — Are You Team Victor or Team Phyllis?

It’s not just all of Genoa City that is having to decide whether they are Team Victor or Team Phyllis, it’s all of us Young & Restless viewers, too. Which side are you on? First, let’s discuss who’s at fault.
The Case Against Victor
Where do we even begin with “the great and powerful Victor Newman”? He was perfectly happy to use Cane’s AI against him but balked when the technology was aimed back at him. So much for the chess master being able think two moves ahead!
Rather than deploy the business cunning he supposedly possesses to reclaim what he lost, Victor fake-kidnapped Cane’s ex-wife and children. You could say that desperate times call for desperate measures. But nah, there’s no justifying Victor sicking Patty on Jack yet again.
The tycoon’s opinion of women has long seemed low and has shockingly gone even lower. Patty has never been a person to Victor but a weapon that he can fire at will. That’s why he paid for her to get all that plastic surgery years ago and turned her loose on Jack. It’s also why Victor more recently planted her along with booze and drugs on a yacht in the middle of Lake Michigan. He didn’t care what happened to either of them.
While we’re on the subject of Victor’s archenemy, his hatred of Jack has ceased to make sense: “I’m super-duper mad because you’re friends with Nikki!” What? And Victor’s abuse of Patty is disgusting, if not surprising. He did the same thing with Kelly Andrews (remember her?) and pimped out Audra to seduce Kyle in exchange for one of Genoa City’s bazillion corporations.
The “ick” is great in the case against Victor. Now let’s move on to…
The Case Against Phyllis
Since deciding that she wants to be a big-business powerhouse, Phyllis hasn’t been able to write the letter T without double-crossing it. But that’s par for the course, both for her and for the cutthroat local execs in general. Her using Cane’s AI to steal Newman Enterprises out from under Victor was shady, sure. But, considering that he once set her up to be raped by Jack lookalike Marco, he more than had it coming. (See also: Victor’s disregard for women.)

The big difference between Victor and Phyllis, it would seem, is in the way that they are being treated in the wake of their misdeeds. Victoria and Claire are steadfastly standing by The Mustache when they should be reading him for filth. (At least Nikki called him out!) Phyllis, on the other hand, is being ostracized by her children — and, at the end of the day, isn’t her crime far less grievous than Victor’s?
Phyllis played dirty. Yep, that’s a given. Victor played dirty. Also a given. But, whereas Victor weaponized human beings (making a pawn of Lily, stacking the deck for Patty to seduce Jack, terrifying the Winters and Abbott families), all Phyllis did was pull exactly the kind of stunt that the men in Genoa City do on the regular. She didn’t pretend that anyone’s life was at stake. She didn’t set up anybody to be sexually assaulted. She just beat Victor, Cane and the lot of ’em at their own game.
So yeah, guess that means we’re Team Phyllis. How about you?
