Phyllis and Victor Hold a Tense Negotiation — and Jack Recruits Patty For a Revenge Scheme
In her Club suite, Diane looks at a photo memory of her and Jack’s wedding and then flashes to slapping him on the yacht. She drops the phone like a hot potato.
Picking up her phone again, she calls Jack and leaves him a voicemail. She still feels hurt, angry and confused, but wants to find a way to move forward. She’ll come by the house in a little bit so they can talk. Next, we see her sleeping on the sofa.
In a dream, Diane goes to the Abbott house and tells Jack she wants to go back to the way things were before Victor used Patty to tear them apart. She makes a speech about reconciling, but Jack tells her he’s already moved on. Patty appears and asks Jack, “What is she doing in our home?”
Diane reels in horror as Jack and Patty tell her in the dream that their love is forever. Diane can’t accept this, and Patty sulks, “Poor Diane.” She tells her to brace herself… there’s more.
Revenge
At Society, Jack convinces Patty to let him sit beside her at the bar. Patty starts unloading about everyone hating her for the terrible things she’s done and is skeptical about him being civil. Jack thinks it’s time for him to accept that she’s trying to be a better person.
Patty asks if he accepts what happened between them on the yacht that night. Jack says that’s behind them but insists on buying his own drink. She’s upset that he still thinks he drugged the alcohol. Jack thinks Victor may have been responsible for it. He coaxes her to admit that the Mustache put her on the yacht. She does.
Jack asks if Victor paid her, and Patty confirms he hired her to spend time with him. If the booze was spiked it wasn’t her. Jack insists there were drugs involved… he’d never have betrayed Diane otherwise. Patty’s admits she felt overheated that night… it could have been drugs. Jack thanks her but he can’t move forward without her help. She asks what she’d get out of the arrangement.
Jack complains about Diane not giving him the time of day since that night on the yacht. Patty can’t help but say she doesn’t deserve him. Jack tells her this isn’t about Diane, it’s about Victor. Patty realizes he wants revenge for Victor ruining his marriage. Jack vows to make sure the Newman loses the love of his life, if it’s the last thing he does.
On Ice
Phyllis brings Matt into a Club suite and he exclaims, “This is so nice!” He wonders if he’s loaded or has a wife. Phyllis assures him the future will work itself out… sooner rather than later. When Matt mentions going for a wander, Phyllis hollers, “No, no, no!”
Matt worries about people thinking he’s a monster. She tells him Noah and Victor are Newmans… they’re a powerful family. He wants to go make amends. She tells him it’s not going to happen. She warns they’re not good people, but they won’t find him there. He thanks her for putting the room under her name and they say goodnight.
Phyllis makes her way downstairs, where she runs into Michael. She tells him she’s on a mission to make a deal. He guesses she’ll give up Newman to avoid legal repercussions. Phyllis has something better in mind. She has access to the one thing Victor wants most in the world. All he has to do is drop the charges to get it. “Matt Clark.”
Phyllis will only say that she’s seen him and knows how to access him. Michael muses that Victor would definitely be amenable to doing a trade, but Christine may not drop the charges. Phyllis says that Victor will have to do whatever it takes to make the charges go bye-bye. Michael thinks this could work. He’ll do the talking.
Failing
At the ranch, Nick demands to know if Victor has news about Matt. His father summoned him because he talked to Adam and knows his plans. Nick rails about wanting to watch Matt Clark die in front of him and then dispose of him. Victor forbids it. Nick, pacing and sweating, tells his father his plan using Burrow as a witness. When Victor says he isn’t thinking this through, Nick erupts. He feels he’s failing everyone and can’t do it anymore! Victor hugs him.
They debate whether Nick should kill Matt Clark until Victor points out the obvious, “Son, you’re using drugs.” Nick snivels that he has it under control. Victor bellows, “I hate drugs!” Nick doesn’t want a lecture. Victor tells him he’s talking about murder and could go to prison for life. He’s his heir and won’t be able to guide the family from behind bars.
Victor promises Matt Clark will get what’s due him. His phone pings and Victor tells Nick that Michael and Phyllis are there. Nick will stick around for this.
Back in the room at the Club, Matt drinks some water and paces. Sitting, he looks in the mirror at the scratch on his head and wonders, “What the hell happened to you?”
At the ranch, Victor asks Michael and Phyllis if she’s ready to return Newman to its rightful owner. Phyllis says what she has to offer will blow his mind. Michael silences her and asks, “What would it be worth to you if we handed over Matt Clark?” Nick leans in with interest.
Nick sneers that this reeks of desperation. Phyllis exclaims that she has Matt Clark on ice. All they have to do is get Christine to drop the charges and she will deliver Matt at their feet. “Do we have a deal?” Victor smirks at her.
Back in the room, Matt’s memory flashes to his fight with Nick in the park. He gasps, “Holy hell.”
The Final Scenes
In her Club suite, Diane’s still in the nightmare about Patty and Jack. She asks what other horrors there could possibly be. Patty tells Diane that her and Jack’s child survived, and they’ve found their long-lost daughter. As Diane protests and pleads, the doorbell rings. Patty goes to answer it and Jack says, “Goodbye, Diane.” Diane wakes up in her suite, screaming his name.
At Society, Jack tells Patty that the loss of Nikki is the only thing that will bring Victor to his knees. Plus, he’d be saving her. Patty’s sorry he’s in so much pain and takes his hands in hers. Jack asks her to help him get revenge. It would go a long way to changing how he feels about her.
In the Club suite, Matt wonders of the earlier flashback, “Who was that guy? Why was he attacking me? Think, think, think. Why can’t I remember anything?”
At the ranch, Victor needles Phyllis. He thought she wasn’t scared of the D.A. or the charges. Michael chortles that this way, everybody wins. Phyllis asks, “Do we have a deal or not?” Victor counter offers. “You return Matt Clark and Newman Enterprises. Take it or leave it. Now, it’s your move.”
