Young & Restless Just Set the Scene for a Life-Saving Twist That Would Reunite Two Soulmates

Young & Restless just delivered a body blow to long-time viewers with the news that Lily’s twins were not a match as potential donors for Malcolm, but take heart… we’re convinced there’s a game-changing twist ahead that will not only save his life, but may have an unexpected silver lining to boot.

Lily was disappointed to learn that she was unable to be a donor for Malcolm due to the cancer treatments she underwent in the past, and crushed to learn that her new brother, Holden, wasn’t a match. The next step was testing in hopes that Charlie or Mattie would be able to provide the life-saving bone marrow for their biological grandfather. Alas, Lily was devastated to receive a call from Malcolm updating her that the twins were not matches either.

With Malcolm’s life hanging in the balance, we’re sure Nate and Devon will be next up to get tested. Sadly, we don’t expect them to be matches either. Why? Well, if our hunch is correct, Young & Restless intends for somone else to step forward to save Malcolm’s life… and the soap just might have an ulterior motive for their choice.

In the face of Malcolm’s terrifying diagnosis, we’d all but forgotten about Lily’s controversial decision to conspire with Victor to get his companies back… and take revenge on Cane. The ruse reveal left Ashby fuming and vowing to have nothing to do with his ex-wife ever again.

But despite his declaration, Cane has been hovering around Lily as relentlessly as ever since he realized that something is upsetting her. It’s giving “still desperately in love”, if you ask us. But what does any of that have to do with Malcolm?

Therein lies the twist. We’re convinced that Young & Restless plans to have Cane be a match for Malcolm and save his life. Lily, like any good soap heroine, will be so overcome with gratitude that she’ll swoon at his feet. Ashby may hold out for a while, but we’re sure he’ll be unable to resist rekindling his relationship with Lily for longer than a split second.

Of course, the men in Lily’s lives are all opposed to Cane as her match, but his selfless donation of bone marrow is bound to go a long way toward their acceptance of him. How many times have we seen a crucial kidney or liver donation redeem a soap character? Ask Adam or Summer if you don’t believe us!
