Nick Plans to Kill Matt — and Phyllis Comes to a Shocking Realization
Wednesday, May 13, 2026: Today on The Young and the Restless, Lily urges Devon to face Mariah, Sharon freaks out, and Phyllis chases Patty away from Matt.

At Society, Lily joins Nate and Devon. She expresses surprise that Cane’s procedure is happening so fast and asks Nate to confirm that he’ll be okay. Nate reassures her, but Devon can hardly control his annoyance. He’s sure that Cane is still using all of this to get close to her, and it’s working. Lily accuses him of venting his pent-up anger against her and Cane because he can’t punish Mariah. Her brother admits it, but he still doesn’t want her near Ashby.
Devon rants that he’ll never be able to get justice for the trauma that has been done to his family. He and Abby still fear there is something wrong with Dominic they’re missing. Making it worse, the little boy wants to visit Mariah to give her a stuffed animal. His sister thinks his anger is bad for everyone. He may need to go and face Mariah himself to resolve it.
Suspicious Minds
At the ranch, Adam marvels over a sandwich having been enough to make Nick think straight again… he was pretty agitated before. Nick, assuming his brother thinks he’s using again, doles out some sarcasm. He wants to focus on getting Matt off the streets permanently. His brother worries that Nick could end up taking the fall for that, and it would be exactly what Clark has always wanted.
Nick explains that he plans to recruit Burrow’s help. He wants him to serve as a witness while he kills Matt in “self-defense.” Adam points out that’s premeditation. No matter how much he believes in “moral flexibility,” he thinks his brother is going to land in prison for the rest of his life. He urges Nick to let the team resolve this. Nick refuses.
Check In
Victor drops by Sharon’s house to explain that his men know Matt is in town, but they don’t know where. He asks about Clark’s supposed amnesia. Noah thinks that Sienna hit him hard enough that it could be real. If it is, that means he won’t see them coming. Sharon fears Matt could still be dangerous. Victor and Noah agree that this is something the Newmans need to handle on their own… because of course they do.
Chasing Off a Psycho
At Crimson Lights, Patty coos to Matt about how great it was to go to high school in Genoa City back in the day. Phyllis strides in and spots them. She immediately leaps in and lambastes Patty, who takes off. She warns Matt that Patty is “certifiable” and urges him to steer clear. She explains that Patty is “psycho” and starts listing her many unforgivable crimes. Matt guesses she doesn’t think she can be redeemed. He’s impressed that she likes to mix it up with a psycho. It’s very punk rock. Phyllis says it’s a hobby.
When Matt asks if Phyllis ever has questions about who she is, she says no. She can’t help but wonder why he’s there. Clark claims he seems to like to change the scenery. She’s sure it’s more than that. He explains that he spoke to Patty to find out if she knew anything about him. That went nowhere, so he wonders if Phyllis will help him out. She says she’s very busy. Matt suggests she buy him dinner. Then they can figure out what he’s good at.
The Final Scenes
At Society, Lily urges Devon to face Mariah and get a reminder that she’s a good person who made a mistake. Then, maybe he can heal. Once she leaves, Devon surprises Nate by admitting he will think about his anger. But he’s definitely not changing his opinion about Cane and worries his sister could get close to him again.
At the ranch, Adam informs Victor that he suspects that Nick is still using drugs. Making things worse, he now plans to kill Matt while using a cop as a witness. Victor will not let this happen. Adam warns they need to take his brother out of the equation before it’s too late.
At Sharon’s place, Noah fills Nick in on how vulnerable Matt is with amnesia. Nick is ready to leap straight into tracking him down and killing him in front of a cop. Sharon is aghast and urges him to let Victor’s team handle this while he gets treatment. Nick is adamant that only he can end this.
At Crimson Lights, Phyllis continues to quiz Matt, who admits he seems to “have pissed some people off.” Describing a run-in he had, he explains some guys named Noah and Victor totally hate whoever they think he is. Peppering him with questions, she comes to the startling realization that he’s the notorious Matt Clark.
