Bold & Beautiful Fans Revolt Against the ‘Big Baby’ Who’s Calling the Shots

Will and RJ’s rivalry has exploded of late… to the point that we can imagine it will one day rival that of their fathers, Bill and Ridge. We kinda’ hope not, given they’ve taken their conflict to life-threatening extremes in the past, but it’s not looking good. Where do Bold & Beautiful fans stand in the battle that busted out over the fair Electra Forrester? Well, let’s just say one of the young men has really rubbed viewers the wrong way!

It was hella surprising to fans to discover that, not only were Brooke and Katie’s sons not close, but the cousins actively disliked one another. That revelation set the scene for the classic Bold & Beautiful love triangle that developed when R.J. fell for Will’s girl at first sight. We could feel trouble brewing in our bones… and we weren’t wrong.

Before that, however, Bold & Beautiful heralded R.J.’s return as that of the “Golden Boy”, which got things off to a bad start for the recast character from the hop. Fans, if not bristled, then eye-rolled at the fanfare, not to mention his swagger-y demeanor around the office. It was giving entitled.

RJ, as it turned out, was sweet with Electra, but pursuing your cousin’s gal, and pushing the issue even as she’s crying over the guy she really loves, is kinda’ cringe. After a whole lotta’ drama, Electra finally got back with Will, and RJ’s nose was left out of joint. When his cousin noticed him encroaching after they’d officially reunited, he earned himself a punch in the gut. RJ, as a result, had his daddy fire Will.

Fans, as you might expect, revolted. When SOAPS asked our readers on Facebook if they were Team Will or Team RJ, virtually no one had Ridge Junior’s back. He as deemed a “big baby” for his reaction to getting what he pretty much deserved from Electra’s boyfriend, and was also called names for running to mommy and daddy to fight his battles for him.

Another theme also emerged. As is wont to happen on soap operas, fans look for patterns, and some noted that RJ’s behavior toward Electra verged on “creepy”. Some even compared it to Thomas’ unhealthy obsession over Hope. Whether it goes that route or remains a run of the mill rivalry story remains to be seen.

Although a handful of posters indicated that they didn’t care much for Will or RJ, the overwhelming majority were Team Will… at least for the moment.
