Gwen’s relaxing stroll through the DiMera mansion is ruined when she finds her bags packed by the front door. EJ practically skips downstairs to tell her Kristen’s in, so Gwen’s out. Kristen’s too big of a snooper, so EJ can’t risk anything.
He doesn’t even try to hide his glee, especially at the prospect of not seeing Xander anymore. But good news! He’s paying for her executive suite at the Salem Inn!
How Much Does Gabi Know?
Gabi catches her breath outside the Pub, Theo’s journal in hand, when he returns to find her, let’s say unsettled. She hands it over with a lie: Of course she didn’t read it! And when Philip strides around the corner with a kiss for his gal, Theo runs off.
The couple head into the Pub to mix business with pleasure and talk Gabi Chic partnering with Titan. Gabi trusts Philip to handle her beloved company. “I trust you, too,” he says to the woman he shouldn’t. “More than anyone.” The point is, Philip will draw up an official proposal, to do right by Gabi, should she choose Titan. He also muses over Theo joining them at Titan, but Gabi shuts that down fast, saying he wouldn’t turn on his family.
Does Cat Still Love Chad?
As Cat spots Charlotte, new Chad walks over with new Thomas. (Who you can meet here.) She welcomes them home and Thomas yells at her. Off to a great start! Chad greets her, chides Thomas and hurries off to Julie’s, leaving Cat to almost literally run into a hurrying Theo.
Never one to let an opportunity go, Cat gets into the will reading. She needs to get in touch with Abe since he’s the beneficiary with Lexie gone and — oh, Theo has to leave. Now. Right now. Bye, Theo!
Can Gwen and Leo Get Along?
Leo takes a break from not writing his news story to cyberstalk Javi’s new beau. He’s clearly not a millennial, because he doesn’t even bother checking Javi’s social media first. He’s knee deep in wine, scrolling through every Corpus Christi firefighter he can find when he hears Gwen arrive in a huff.
After a few digs (she’ll be living right across the hall, natch) they decide misery loves company — and company needs alcohol. That leads to wine in the square, which puts them right in Cat’s path and earns them a third drinking pal.
She mostly just sits back and watches some good natured hate-banter between the frenemies. But in the end, Gwen admits she doesn’t feel good to learn that Leo lost everything — Dimitri and Javi — and they toast to the emptiness of life without true love. Of course Cat joins in for that lovely sentiment.
Will Chad Figure Out EJ’s Scheme?
Chad visits EJ after dropping the kids off at Julie’s and gets the skinny on Kristen moving in. He mentions running into Cat, sure that she’ll move on without him. EJ’s all for that! (With himself.) Such a good guy, that one.
After they get the will reading, Dimitri, Leo and all the fun family gossip out of the way, Chad reveals the real reason for his visit: Answers about Stephanie’s kidnapping and the mysterious pod! EJ’s wounded — simply wounded — that Chad wasted so little time accusing him of wrongdoing.
But Stephanie’s not really Chad’s concern. He knows who was in that pod: Abigail! EJ’s aghast that Chad thought he’d go behind his back like that. It’s not Abigail! This Chad is not playing nice. Nothing would surprise him. But if not Abigail, then who? EJ lies to Chad’s face, proclaiming his innocence and Chad warns his brother he’s turning into Stefano. (Don’t we all know it!)
In the Show’s Final Moments
Theo runs to his mom to tell her all about the journal and Gabi and Lani and Eli moving back and. He worries that EJ’s playing God and could have dragged Lexie from heaven. He gets all worked up, grabs his mom’s hand and… She moves her arm!
After Chad leaves, Theo hurries upstairs with the news: “She moved!” EJ’s ecstatic! Lexie shall soon return! Muahahaha! (OK, he didn’t evil laugh, but EJ’s spiel about Lexie reaching for the dawn that shall return life or some such poetic thing was very Dr. Frankenstein.)
