Gabi Tries a New Way to Get Rid of Liam, and Sarah’s Attempts to Get Through to Amy Fall On Deaf Ears

Amy visits Sophia’s bridge memorial and reads cards from Ari and Tate, then freezes as Sarah shows up with flowers and sympathies. “No matter where I’m headed,” Amy admits through tears, “I always end up here.”

What Will Amy Do to Holly?

Amy refuses to believe Sophia’s gone and still puts all the blame at Holly’s feet. Sarah promises that Holly deeply regrets anything she’s done (Yeah, no.), then mentions her own loss and how much she blamed herself more than anyone else.

Then she pulls out the kicker: Hopefully Amy’s faith lets her extend the same grace for forgiveness as God does. Amy’s still waiting for a single kind word from Holly, so that’s a hard “No.” She wants “justice.”

Will Chad and Belle Get Together?

Chad and Belle finally get to their second date — a romantic evening in the middle of the square. Since this is Salem, date talk falls along the lines of the will reading, Lexie’s resurrection and Marlena’s mysterious chess set. How romantic!

Eventually, they move onto summer plans, which amount to nothing (No one really takes summer vacations in Salem, do they?) and talk fondly about John and his love of baseball a bit. It’s all very sweet, but the sparks aren’t exactly flying.

Cat and EJ Feel Each Other Out

EJ has drinks with Cat at Small Bar, determined not to talk about work! Especially since his job’s at risk thanks to the board. He could be forced out and the hospital could be shut down because this time, Xander can’t afford to buy it.

“Why can’t they see that the drug that I am developing has the potential to help thousands, if not millions of people!” (You mean help you with millions of dollars from dozens of people?) EJ does admit he’s set to make lots of money, too, then suddenly remembers he wasn’t going to talk about work when Cat asks if he’s still going through legitimate channels.

Instead, Cat asks about Sydney. EJ talks to her a lot — “She’s a wonderful woman.” — and is sure she’ll come back to Salem once she’s done school. Interesting… He pivots into Sami and what he clearly was waiting for: Did Sami ever visit him in Italy? Does Cat remember anything? She does not! No matter, EJ will unlock those memories, one way or another. How about a walk around the park? (Big park or small park?)

Ari and Holly Butt Heads

Ari and Holly talk over the end of the school year at the Pub where Holly admits she’s felt off since the drugging. Also, neither can stop thinking about Sophia. But Holly has no remorse for what she said and feels no responsibility for Sophia’s death. She gets all upset when Ari tries suggesting she talk to someone anyway and twists the conversation back to Ari and Liam.

Holly’s on team Gabi, and Ari’s on team, “Well, maybe you forget what it’s like having a mom since yours is on the other side of the world.” Boom! But they kiss and make up fast.

Will Gabi Chase Liam Off?

Gabi summons Liam to the Kiriakis mansion to talk business. Is she going to try paying him off to stay away from Ari? Yes, yes she is. To the tune of $150,000! (That’s chump change for her.) But he’d have to leave Salem with Gage, and that seems like a lot.

He mentions his parents living here, plus his plea deal with the DA about literacy tutoring. Gabi rolls her eyes on learning his tutor is Julie, but she’ll talk with her and figure something out. But only if he leaves ASAP once she figures it at. He agrees, so… forget his parents, I guess?

In the Show’s Final Moments

Gabi drops into the Pub for a cake from Philip — Holly just left — and tells Ari Mrs. Choi let her know they’ll have a service for Sophia tomorrow. (Wait, has she been declared legally dead?) Ari’s not sure she’s ready, but Gabi pushes her to face this head on.

Holly gets home and Sarah also mentions Sophia’s memorial service. “I think it might be a good idea for you to go.” Well, Holly doesn’t, so too bad. But she pays lip service to thinking it over.

Just as Chad and Belle agree they’d love another date, Cat and EJ wander into the square. “Picking up where I — uh we — left off, I see?” EJ quips, then whisks Cat off. Awkwardness for everyone!
