Has Victor Found a New Adam? Why Matt Could Be Taking Over as His Right-Hand Man on Y&R

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) seems to be warming up to Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) despite all his mistakes.

The fact that Victor’s giving Matt another chance is shocking considering all the horror that Matt put the Newmans through.

Victor could’ve turned Matt over to the authorities or even just made him disappear without a trace.

Instead, Victor is choosing to let Matt make amends through his Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) spy games, so Matt’s trying to build some trust by taking orders.

Y&R fans can’t help but notice that Matt seems to be sliding into Adam Newman’s (Mark Grossman) role in some ways.

This feels reminiscent of the times when Adam’s had to work to prove himself to Victor Newman as his most problematic son.

Now Matt is almost like a surrogate son who’s working to seek Victor’s approval.

Victor is being far kinder to Matt than necessary and almost seems to like the guy – at least now that he’s this gentler version of Matt who knows he messed up big time.

If Matt stays on this road, he just might be poised to become Victor’s right-hand man.

Matt may replace Adam’s role in Victor’s inner circle and become his favorite pet project.

Of course, that could lead to problems since Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and plenty of other Newmans will never truly accept Matt.

Even if they buy that Matt has changed, that doesn’t mean they can forgive him or let him act like part of the family.

Adam could end up particularly angry if he feels like Matt is indeed his replacement.

Victor might even do something like put Matt in charge of Newman Media down the road after Adam and Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) rebuild it.

There will inevitably be ways for Victor to rile up his family because of his growing faith in Matt and whatever strange bond might be forming.

The Young and the Restless spoilers say Matt could be carving out a spot as an honorary Newman, so that news could bring major complications.
