Why Chanel’s Fight Isn’t Really About Chemotherapy on Days of our Lives

Why Chanel’s Fight Isn’t Really About Chemotherapy on Days of our Lives

Chanel is fighting for her life literally and physically.

Days of our Lives Chanel

On the June 2 episode of Days of our Lives, Chanel was not happy with Dr. George, and she let him know it. Chanel’s reaction is about so much more than the treatment as she fights for her and her baby’s lives.

Key Takeaways

  • Chanel wasn’t mad about her medication.
  • She spoke her mind and still didn’t feel heard.
  • Chanel’s reaction was one of fear, but she made valid points.

Being Her Own Advocate In More Ways Than One

Dealing with her breast cancer diagnosis already had Chanel (Raven Bowens) struggling, and her appointment with oncologist Dr. George (John Hartmann) did nothing to ease her fears. Dr. George’s bedside manner was lacking, but he was brutally honest about the treatment she needed.

The problem was that he treated her like a statistic. Chanel clocked it immediately. Instead of just following orders, Chanel called out Dr. George’s behavior.

Chanel isn’t here for others making unilateral decisions about her body and her baby, even the doctor. On this journey, Chanel needs to be heard because her feelings are valid, as are her questions.

Even though she stated her own statistics, Dr. George didn’t listen to her. Instead, he told her to “get off the Internet” and to “calm down.” Then he walked out, ordering her to make arrangements to begin chemotherapy.

It was a disaster of an appointment for sure. However, the fallout of it wasn’t just that Chanel didn’t like him. Chanel decided that she wasn’t going to get the treatment, a move that could cost her everything

Right now, what matters most to Chanel is her unborn baby and trusting her doctor. If that means putting off treatment until she finds a doctor she trusts and makes her feel like what she is doing is best for her baby, then so be it.

Unfortunately, Chanel could be doing herself and her baby more harm than good. It’s understandable she needs a doctor who will listen to her, but it’s also important she gets treatment.
