Y&R Twist: Has Martin Laurent Been Hiding as Dr. Laurence Markham All Along?

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that the show could be hiding a familiar villain in plain sight.

There could be some trickery going on when it comes to Dr. Laurence Markham (Jere Burns), so let’s discuss some crucial clues.

Many fans have been calling out the similarities when it comes to Diane Jenkins Abbott’s (Susan Walters) captivity situation and the one that Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) faced along with Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford).

Martin Laurent (Christopher Cousins) treated Phyllis and Sharon like lab rats when he locked them in that old clinic together.

Y&R fans will recall that Martin was masquerading as his brother, Dr. Alan Laurent (Christopher Cousins), around town while secretly carrying out his twisted experiment.

Although Patty Williams (Stacy Haiduk) is paying Dr. Markham, he might actually enjoy gaslighting Diane over a phony breakdown and keeping her captive at his place.

Doesn’t this seem like something Martin would do?

Of course, we can’t ignore the fact that Dr. Laurence Markham sounds like the perfect character name for someone who used to be Martin Laurent.

Is that a clue for Y&R fans? Could Martin actually be Laurence after soapy plastic surgery?

It’s interesting that Dr. Markham will have a shelf full of Alan Laurent’s books in the June 15 episode.

That has to be some sort of hint about Laurence connecting to Alan and perhaps Martin somehow.

Plus, Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) will get involved in this storyline right off the bat.

It’ll be Traci who first sees Dr. Markham with Patty and reports to Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) about the creepy doc.

There may be some significance to that since Traci was previously duped by Martin, who pretended he was Alan during their romance.

What if Dr. Laurence Markham is just Martin Laurent’s newest identity?

It’s an option to consider, especially since Patty once got plastic surgery to look like her psychiatrist, Dr. Emily Peterson (Stacy Haiduk).

Martin might’ve undergone a similar procedure, especially since he’s in cahoots with Patty and could’ve been steered in that direction.

Maybe Martin landed at the same facility as Patty before escaping and getting plastic surgery to look like Dr. Markham.

From there, Martin could’ve taken over Dr. Markham’s life, arranged for “rehabilitated” Patty’s release and signed up to help with this Diane plot as well.

Whatever the case, Martin has a knack for posing as other people, so stay tuned for any shocking news that might be in the works.
