Kyle walks into the Club and right into Patty, who tries to introduce herself. He asks, “Why are you still here?” and warns her if she’s sticking around because of his father, they’re going to have problems.
Patty’s amused by his feistiness and pokes about his mother becoming a respectable member of the community. She wants that too and has made headway with Jack. Kyle disagrees and urges her to leave. Patty gushes that she’s remembered how much she loves living there. “Sorry.”
Kyle calls Patty crazy and she takes offense. She alludes to her great love story with Jack. Kyle warns his mother will heal and come home. If Patty interferes, he’ll make her life miserable… and he’s not a kid anymore. “I play hardball,” he warns, trying to be intimidating. Patty’s not exactly shaking in her boots.
Big News
At the Abbott mansion, Billy happily breaks the news to Jack that Sally’s pregnant. “We’re having a baby!”
Jack then learns that Billy proposed, but Sally needs a bit of time. They both hope she says yes. Billy realizes Jack’s still going through hell and he’s being insensitive. His brother assures him it’s good news. They recap the kidnapping and Jack wonders if it’s possible that he wanted Patty.
Jack tells Billy he started out playing along to manipulate Patty. When the drugs kicked in, he may have inadvertently turned his whole world upside-down. Billy asks what difference it makes? The deed is done. Talk turns to going after Victor. Jack muses that he’ll figure out a way to get Patty on his side and beat Victor at his own game. Hell, at this point, he’s got nothing to lose!
Ready Or Not?
Sally meets Audra at the outdoor café and tells her Billy’s excited about the baby. “He wants us to be a family, Audra.” Audra’s concerned that Sally’s made this all about Billy’s reaction. It’s a quick turnaround from being scared. Sally admits it could end badly, but they can’t let their fear get in the way. Audra will be cheering for both of them. Sally has one more thing… Billy asked her to marry him.
Audra reminds her pal that not that long ago, she and Billy were having serious issues. She wants her to be happy, but this feels impulsive. Sally protests that they’re genuinely happy and in love. Audra supposes there’s nothing wrong with fast if he’s the one. Sally admits she hasn’t said yes yet. Audra guesses she isn’t ready.
Sally tells Audra she was engaged to a guy named Wyatt back in L.A. He broke things off and she did things she wasn’t proud of to hang onto him. She’s worked hard to overcome the feeling that no one ever chooses her. “What if I’m not enough? What if he changes his mind?”
Audra questions if her doubt is about that or their issues. Sally’s sure they’re about her insecurities. Audra knows disappointment sometimes builds up armor and also that doubts are there for a reason. “Which is it?”
Worst Nightmare
At Crimson Lights, Christine thanks Danny for coming to see her get sworn in as D.A. He pumps her up as they head inside. Daniel appears and congratulates Christine, noting that this is his mother’s worst nightmare. He elaborates that Phyllis claims Victor is fabricating evidence against her.
Chris admits that Victoria already gave her a heads-up. She was clearly delivering a message from Victor. It did seem self-serving, but if the Newmans have something, she’ll be compelled to take a look at it. Daniel argues that Phyllis didn’t seem to be playing him. She seemed certain. Christine sing-songs that if Phyllis has done nothing wrong, she has nothing to worry about. She would never use her professional position to settle old personal scores.
Not Backing Down
At the ranch, Victor and Victoria ask Phyllis if she’s come to surrender. Phyllis won’t hand anything over. She invites them to go to court with the bogus evidence… Michael will tear them to shreds. They argue about the evidence and Phyllis warns she’ll prove Victor did the same thing to Cane. They’ll both go to prison. Victor smirks about the idea of Cane testifying. Phyllis counters that he kidnapped Jack Abbott. “What about that?”
Victoria advises Phyllis to accept her losses and move on. “It’s over.” Phyllis snips, “No.” Victoria brings her kids into it and Victor warns that her worst enemy has been sworn in as D.A. Justice will be swift and merciless.
Bringing the Heat
Back at the Club, Patty assures Kyle that Diane will never get over herself and Jack won’t forget the night they slept together. Kyle calls her sick and deluded. Patty teases that he’s handsome… except for the scowl. She trots off and Kyle heads to the bar.
Victoria walks in and needles Kyle about Patty. Kyle wonders how she can sleep at night knowing the damage her father has done to their family. Victoria argues there’s no proof Victor was behind Patty’s return. Kyle scoffs. She knows he hired Patty.
Kyle thought Victoria had a conscience when he and Claire were together, but in the end, none of them ever takes a stand against Victor. He believes that she has guilt deep down about her father destroying his parents’ marriage. There’s not enough deflecting and denying in the world to change that.
The Final Scenes
At Crimson Lights, Phyllis finds Daniel with Danny and Christine, who announces that she’s now the D.A. and her first case could involve her. Phyllis accuses Daniel of being a traitor by running his mouth to the D.A., who would like nothing better than to see her rot in prison. Her kids have chosen Victor Newman over her! “You want to see me go to prison, don’t you?!”
Daniel doesn’t want her in prison, but suggests she give Victor back his company so they can move on. Phyllis, untethered, rants about Cricket salivating over sending her to the gallows and about what it’s like to have a child betray you… it’s like a dagger! Warning Daniel she won’t forget this, she storms out.
Pacing the mansion, Jack flashes back to trying to manipulate Patty on the yacht. He realizes he was playing her before the drugs kicked in. “I did have a plan to go after Victor.”
At the Club, Victoria tells Kyle she can’t implicate her father, she doesn’t have proof. Neither does he have proof. Jack had sex with Patty… both of their fathers are flawed. Kyle insists his is nothing like hers.
Victoria admits Victor’s not perfect, some of his mistakes were at her expense, but nearly watching him die put that to rest. “Love the sinner, hate the sin,” applies to both of their fathers. She urges Kyle to take a long look at himself and flounces off.
In the outdoor café, Billy joins Sally and Audra, who takes off. Billy guesses Audra doesn’t like him. He hates the way Audra messed with Kyle, but Sally loves and trusts her, which is good enough for him. Sally urges him to tell Audra that himself. Switching gears, he asks if Sally’s thought more about the proposal. She has.
Billy starts rambling and Sally hushes him with a kiss. “It’s a definite yes.” Billy once again pulls the ring out of nowhere, pops the question again, and when she says yes, places the ring on her finger.
Jack enters the Club and spots Patty at the bar. She sees him and smiles. Jack looks thoughtful and then grins to himself.
