EJ’s getting all moody with Stefano’s portrait when Cat shows up — since he never came to the office — and snaps him back to reality. He tells her about Chanel’s breast cancer and Cat leaps right into giving her the miracle drug. “Absolutely not!” EJ snaps.

Is Cat Making a Move?

He’ll submit the drug for rigorous FDA scrutiny before trying it on living patients. All must be above board! No using it on pregnant women or Cat’s mom. EJ apologizes and puts his hand on her arm, tenderly checking in on how he can make her feel better, then exhorts her to stay after she tries running off. (Giving off creeper vibes here, EJ, especially after just hitting on Gabi.)

They sit to watch the big game, share some drinks, compare baseball and cricket, and talk a bit about her past. It ends with her apologizing for not being able to access the memories from Italy. That’s fine, EJ says, they can make new memories. Whatever she’s comfortable with, of course. Cat suggests starting with holding hands… and maybe a kiss!

Belle and Chad Grow Closer

Belle and Jada go over Stephanie’s shooting to see how the DA’s office wants to proceed. Belle knows it was an accident and Stephanie’s not a threat, so they’re all good. Unless… Joy wants to file a report. But that’s a problem for another day. The ladies have plans!

Belle joins Chad and the kids in the square to head to the ball game, all four decked out in Cubs paraphernalia. They take a break in the park to let Charlotte feel better before getting to the stadium and it’s a lovely night for a family date!

Are Jada and Shawn Dating?

Jada joins Shawn at Small Bar (again for the Cubs game) and lets slip that Belle’s going with Chad and the kids. He just nods. Not even fazed. Shawn brings up Stephanie, because it’s so tough to be objective when work involves someone you care about. (Which is why you have other cops handle this!) And that, of course, leads into their own feelings for each other.

They’re going to miss each other’s company when they aren’t living together. But they wouldn’t want to break the rules of the SPD. Luckily, Jada’s an expert in this and knows ways around those rules! Technically, he doesn’t report to her, so they only have to disclose a relationship — would one happen.

Will Stephanie Be OK?

Kayla and Steve rush over to Alex, who fills them in while Stephanie sleeps. He’s got to run out, so they stick around in case she wakes — which she does with a scream! Her parents rush into the bedroom as Stephanie sobs that she killed Joy.

Once she calms, Kayla asks how many sleeping pills Stephanie took, which is two spread out between the plane and home — pushing the dosage, as Kayla points out. (OK, but what sleeping pills? Prescription? Benadryl?) Steve goes over gun safety again, but when he says it’s going to stay in the gun safe, Stephanie doesn’t want it at all.

She feels less safe than ever with it. Steve’s relieved and Kayla says she probably still has PTSD — which means time for another Marlena session! Stephanie’s parents just wrap their arms around her and promise, as she cries, that she’s OK.

Will Joy Press Charges?

Alex gets back to Joy and Kelsey at the Pub, takes a deep breath, and apologizes for his wife. Then he gets all hesitant and, well, is she, like, going to file a complaint against Stephanie or… “Damn right I am!” Alex tries to talk her down, but Joy is not having it! He’s not even there to check on her, but to keep his wife out of jail. Well, that’s where she belongs!

That’s when Joy twists the knife. Even if she doesn’t go to jail, Stephanie’s never getting near Kelsey ever again. Alex can visit anytime he wants at Joy’s place without Stephanie. Gun or no gun, Alex’s wife isn’t stable, and Joy doesn’t trust her. So if he wants to keep his wife out of jail, Alex has to agree to keep her away from Kelsey. Alex isn’t happy but… it’s a deal.

In the Show’s Final Moments

Alex gets home and fills the Johnsons in on the Joy situation. But he neglects to mention the condition to keep Stephanie out of prison. They all head out for ice cream, where Alex spots Joy pushing Kelsey through the square and freezes. Steph wants to apologize, but Alex tells her to just leave it alone for now.

Jada and Shawn agree they do want something and kiss. Up on the TV, the kiss cam catches Belle and Chad doing the same.
